OK. I'm not proud of it, but I had to read it. Call it preemptive reading.
It all started when a coworker left a copy of the first book at the office. I picked it up, casually, during lunch. I was flipping through the book. Next thing I know, I was finishing Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban on a lazy Sunday afternoon. I do admit the story line is engaging; I just had to find out what happened next.
I was never a fanatic (really!). I always let the craze simmer down before I bought and read the books. So even when I heard, again and again, that the final book was being released, I did not plan on running out and buying it. I was in no hurry to read the age inappropriate book... but I kept overhearing some people enthusiastically discussing the ending of the book. When someone threatened to ruin the ending for me, I knew what I had to do; I went to the nearest Borders, with my iPod blasting to drown out the noise that revealed the story line, and bought the darn thing. Judging from the overjoyed kid holding the book, I already figured out general nature of the ending. Great... Had I known so many people would be going straight to the last chapters in line, I would have blind folded myself and had asked someone to guide me.
Nonetheless, it's over. It's out of the way. I no longer have to be on Harry-Potter-ending-alert.
